My Success Story as A Leadership Coach
The beauty of being a coach is the ability to coach oneself.
I learned this 13 years back.
After a successful career in corporate HR, including heading HR for Bestseller Retail India, I decided to follow my passion.
In January 2013, I stepped into the uncharted world of Executive Coaching and Mentoring.
At the time, not many understood what coaching was or the transformational results it could bring to individuals, teams, and organizations.
With no mentor or godfather to guide me, every day presented new challenges.
Yet, the beauty of being a coach is the ability to coach oneself, and I applied that principle daily.
My first 100 hours of coaching were invaluable – I worked with clients from diverse walks of life, gaining clarity about my purpose and shaping my vision.
In mid-2014, my persistence bore fruit.
A former colleague from Etisalat DB Telecom, now in Ghana with Tech Mahindra, reached out.
After a detailed discussion on his challenges, we agreed to begin a leadership coaching engagement.
Here begins my Corporate Leadership Coaching JOURNEY!
Around the same time, an email from Sri Lanka changed my journey forever.
It was a Sunday evening when I received a message from a prominent business owner seeking my coaching services.
A quick call revealed that he was one of the top 10 richest Indians in Sri Lanka, managing a conglomerate of 19 diversified businesses.
Within 48 hours, I was on a flight to meet him.
Sitting across his desk, we discussed his aspirations and the challenges he faced as a leader.
Our coaching journey began, and the results were transformative.
As his mindset and leadership style evolved, he entrusted me to coach the CEOs of several of his businesses.
What started as one engagement grew into a five-year partnership. I was granted Sri Lankan residency to continue working closely with him and his leadership teams, a period that profoundly shaped my growth as a Leadership Coach.
The early days were tough – coaching was still a nascent field, and selling its value was a challenge.
In 2013, Many friends advised me to return to corporate life, but I held on to my belief in my vision.
Over time, that belief translated into reality.
Had I listened to others beliefs and not trusted on my potential, I wouldn’t have achieved my dreams.
Today, I celebrate 14 years of this fulfilling journey.
With over 500 clients, 6,000+ hours of coaching, and work spanning 15 countries, I remain committed to my purpose: Making the Best Better.
